Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Scott Rolen went 2-for-5, drove in a run and scored the winner on pinch-hitter Joe Inglett's single in the 11th inning, as the Toronto Blue Jays beat Minnesota, 3-2, to complete a three-game sweep at the Metrodome.
Jesse Crain took the mound for the Twins in the 11th and surrendered a leadoff double to Rolen. After recording two outs, Lyle Overbay was intentionally walked and pinch-hitter Gregg Zaun drew a free pass to load the bases. Inglett followed with a single to right.
B.J. Ryan took the mound for Toronto in the home 11th and retired Delmon Young for the first out, Mike Lamb then went down swinging, but Joe Mauer hit a single up the middle. Mat Tolbert grounded out to Inglett at shortstop, and the game was over.
"Any time you have that kind of situations you've got butterflies the whole time," Inglett. "I'm just happy I got that ground ball. It got down and that calmed me down a lot."
Shannon Stewart had a pair of hits for the Blue Jays, who have won four in a row. Alex Rios also had an RBI.
Dustin McGowan got the start for Toronto and went five innings, giving up two runs on two hits. Shawn Camp (1-1) got the win as he retired the last batter in the 10th. Ryan earned his seventh save of the year.
Justin Morneau went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Twins, who beat Boston in three of four before this series. Jason Kubel also had a pair of hits in defeat.
"We were in every game," Mauer said. "That's why it was so tough because we could have won any of these games. That's what baseball is. We have to move forward."
Glen Perkins got the start for Minnesota and pitched six innings, yielding two runs on five hits. Crain (1-2) was tagged with the loss.
Toronto got on the board in the third inning. Brad Wilkerson slugged a one-out single and Aaron Hill followed with a walk. Rios then hit a single to right to plate Wilkerson. Rolen grounded into a force out, which allowed Hill to cross home plate.
Minnesota countered in the home third. Tolbert worked a one-out walk and stole second base. Brendan Harris then flied out to center, which advanced Harris to third, and Kubel drew a walk. A wild pitch then scored Tolbert and moved Kubel to second, before Morneau drew a free pass.
The Twins evened the score in the fifth inning. Adam Everett led off with a walk, and two batters later Harris singled. Morneau then doubled to right and Everett scored easily, but Harris was thrown out at home. Game Notes
