Team USA routs Norway at Worlds

Halifax, Nova Scotia (Sports Network) - Brandon Dubinsky registered a hat trick and Dustin Brown added two goals with an assist to power the United States to a 9-1 rout of Norway in the finale of the qualifying round of the 2008 World Hockey Championship.
The Americans rebounded from a contentious 3-2 loss to Finland on Sunday and wrapped up third place in Group F. They will again meet Finland in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, as the Finns wound up second in Group F after a 6-3 loss to Canada on Monday.
Dubinsky scored once in each period for the Americans, who opened a 3-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. Zach Parise, Phil Kessel and Patrick Kane also scored in the victory, while Robert Esche made 17 saves.
Norway advanced to the quarterfinals for the first time since 1990 after Latvia dropped a 5-3 decision to Germany. Christoph Schubert, Yannic Seidenberg and Christoph Ullmann all scored inside of four minutes in the third period to erase a 3-2 deficit.
Canada finished first in Group F following Monday's triumph and will play Norway in the next round.
Dany Heatley and Shane Doan scored a pair of goals apiece for the Canadians against the Finns. Ryan Getzlaf added a goal with two assists in the victory, while Rick Nash accounted for three assists.
Russia finished first in Group E with a 5-3 victory over Switzerland in Quebec City. Maxim Sushinskiy scored a pair of goals for the Russians, while Alex Ovechkin, Sergei Fedorov and Dmitri Kalinin also tallied in the victory.
Peter Regin scored 2:11 into overtime to lift Denmark to a 3-2 win over Belarus to round out the action in Group E.
The Russians will face the Swiss again on Wednesday in quarterfinal play, while the other quarterfinal from Group E will pit Sweden against the Czech Republic.
